In praise of the new improved Recreation Department

Dear Editor:
I am writing this letter to thank Ryan Strother, Jersey City Recreation Director, for a job well done.
In the past few years, we can all say we had a good Recreation Department but the changes that have been made are benefiting the City of Jersey City as a whole. Since Ryan has taken over, there has been a shift in responsibilities of the department and I see nothing but greatness for our youth.
One area that has seen much improvement is the partnership with the Jersey City Board of Education. There have been numerous programs added to school facilities which are helping to keep our kids in a safe environment and off the streets. One program I am extremely proud of is the Boxing Program. Many of our parents and youngsters wanted this for awhile and it finally was implemented by the new administration. Last but not least, I cannot forget about our senior citizens. I am happy to see that they are being well taken care of as well, because fitness is one of the keys to a healthier lifestyle.
