Dear Editor:
The reason for this letter is to persuade you to join our school, All Saints Episcopal Day School, to ban the bag. According to reuseit.com, 1 million plastic bags are used every minute worldwide. Plastic bags cause pollution to the environment, can be health hazards, and can be a hazard to infants. California has already banned the bag a few weeks ago according to the Huffington Post. Anywhere from .5% to 3% of all plastic bags wind up being recycled, also according to reuseit.com. Plastic bags remain toxic even after they break down in landfills. This causes major pollution to the environment. Also, plastic bags are the second most common type of ocean refuse. In order to stop the plastic bags of being of use, we have an excellent solution. We can use cloth or more reusable bags that we do not have to throw away. Many people throw away plastic bags that they do not reuse. In my opinion, plastic bags are just plain useless. They break easily since they’re not made with strong material so they don’t last long. Many people argue that they don’t want to pay money for reusable bags. It’s just 10 cents! So please join us to Ban the Bag!
Sincerely,
Davion Massey
