To the Editor:
On October 21, Henry Harris School dedicated a “Reading Garden” to honor the memory of English teacher Maureen “Mickey” McLaughlin. Mrs. McLaughlin served the Bayonne School District for 49 years as the heart and soul of Henry E. Harris.
Her motto of “Pride, Tradition and Spirit” will remain a constant in the lives of the Harris community. Her devotion to the students, her dedication to the school, and her passion for teaching have enriched the lives of both children and adults.
Mickey’s kind and benevolent spirit lives on in each and every one of us. Her example leaves an indelible mark on her students, colleagues and the entire school community.
To all of those who attended this ceremony, your presence here was not by chance but by design. Mickey McLaughlin knew how to take care of people and at some point along the way she took care of all of us.
On behalf of Principal Kazimir and myself, a heartfelt thank you to all who helped continue such a beautiful legacy for the children of Henry Harris.
