Murder being investigated

JERSEY CITY — The Hudson County Prosecutor’s office is investigating the murder of Francisco Merced, 24, of Jersey City, who was shot to death on Nov. 2.
According to Gene Rubino, assistant prosecutor, the Jersey City Police were dispatched to the area of Sterling and Armstrong Avenues in Jersey City on reports of shots fired. Upon the arrival of police, Merced was found partially inside a vehicle in front of 129 Sterling Avenue. Police believe he was shot somewhere to his upper body while inside the vehicle.
“Mr. Merced was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11:50 p.m.,” Rubino said. “The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.”
The investigation is being conducted by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit in conjunction with the Jersey City Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit at (201) 915-1345. All calls will be kept confidential.
