Dear Editor:
In an ideal world, voters elect to their board of education those people who will best represent the interests of the children of the district schools. As parents with a proven commitment to our district public schools, Antonio Gray, Sharyn Angley and Monica Stromwall are the clear choice. They will bring positive energy, ideas and enthusiasm to the district.
But sadly, Hoboken is not such an ideal place when it comes to school elections. Instead, the field is clouded by suspiciously well-funded candidates with dubious goals who lay siege to the Board of Education for personal, professional and political advantage.
Years ago, when I was a founder and board member of the Elysian Charter School, nobody ever questioned my singular obligation. My sole responsibility was to that school and its students. That is what board members do – they advocate for those they represent – and so it should be with the Hoboken Board of Education.
I have had first-hand experience with every candidate in this election. Your readers should know that the Parents for Progress are exactly what they present themselves to be, and what we so dearly need on the Board. They are sincere, committed parents who will dedicate their time and their talents to continued improvement of student achievement in our district schools.
I will be voting for the Parents for Progress – Gray, Angley and Stromwall – and urge your readers to do the same.
Sincerely,
Tom Kluepfel
