New owner of Maxwell’s bar apologizes for comments

HOBOKEN — On the cover of last week’s Hoboken Reporter, one of the three new owners of Maxwell’s tavern, formerly a legendary rock club, called the old incarnation a “dive” and had some other negative comments. He said the new version is more in line with modern Hoboken. Fans of the venue were angry by the comments, and left responses at the bottom of the story on HudsonReporter.com, and elsewhere.
On Facebook on Wednesday, the owner apologized, eliciting a round of positive and some negative comments.
One reader wrote, “Out of curiosity is the next project CBGB A Family Tapas Experience?” and then added, “Or maybe reopen Pier Platter’s as an Artisanal Soap Emporium.”
Another reader responded that: “Pier Platters reopened as a real-estate office.”
And there you have it…
