After dropping their first game 28-0 to the Bears, the (0-1) Colts set their sights on rebounding back as they took on the (0-0) Jets in week one action of the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football Jr. Division. The Jets flew out to a quick 8-0 lead when Andres Giron raced goal to goal for an early TD sprint. The Jets tacked on a two point conversion with Aaliyana Cifuentes zipping in on a sweep toss. With just a few seconds elapsed, the Colts once again needed to rally from behind. The Colts turned to their outstanding stable of receivers, Amir Asouti, Raunak Verma, and Talen Alsop to mount the charge. After two bulls-eye passes QB Christian Mekheil found Talen Alsop all alone for a big first down dart. Sitting deep in Jets territory the Colts seemed poised to cash in but a huge defensive stop by the Bears’ Jake Bellero and Andres Giron foiled the Colts’ scoring attempt. With the Colts hot on their heels, the Jets got some breathing room when Brendan McCall soared in for a 30 yard TD run making it 14-0, Jets. After knocking on the door earlier, the Colts finally got on the scoreboard as QB Mekheil hit Alsop on a zone to zone TD bomb to pull within 8 points at 14-6, Jets. The rest of the bout stayed tight as both squads tussled to gain ground but it took a late game full court TD burst by the Jets’ Aaliyana Cifuentes and a two point rumble by Dylan Subacz to seal the Jets 22–6 win.
