Save our park!

Dear Editor:
The Township of North Bergen and the County of Hudson have contacted the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Green Acres Program, proposing to divert approximately 1.1 acres of the James J. Braddock North Hudson County Park, Bergenline Avenue, North Bergen, New Jersey 07047, Block 437.02 and Lot 1 in order to keep the North Bergen Pre-School in its current location within the park.
We have precious little open and natural space in northern Hudson County, and James J. Braddock North Hudson County Park is as pristine a natural environment as we can get in our urban area. By permitting developers in to section-off lots of the park, we are allowing them to “open the door” to future dissections of our natural environment— which will dwindle with each new “administrative” solution to “space allocation”. The partitioning of our park is not new. It’s been tried before but was denied by the EPA condemning the north end field. Now they are at it again trying to “divert”, or partition 1.1 acres of park land for a pre-school. Please come to the meeting below to voice your concern.
