The incident occurred on Oct. 7 at 3:38 p.m. in a Bayonne High School in a second floor classroom during an alternate adult school course, according to Lt. Janine Foy.

In that class, a battle between a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old girl resulted in a police officer and security officer responding.

“(When) the officer attempted to separate the two females, the 17 year old [allegedly] struck the officer as he was trying to restrain her,” Foy said. “She [allegedly] struck him on his upper body and arm.” She was charged with resisting arrest.

“The other combatant, the 16 year old, was fighting with a school security officer attempting to break up the fight,” Foy said. “He was [allegedly] assaulted, by [allegedly] being punched and kicked about the body and legs by the juvenile.”

The security officer suffered a minor injury to his left hand as well, police said.

The two girls were taken into custody. Both were charged with aggravated assault; one on the police officer, and the other, on the school security guard. Each was also charged with resisting arrest.

Both were released to the custody of their parents. There was no indication as to what the fight was about, according to Foy.
