A funeral mass was offered Sept. 30 at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hoboken, for John J. Huelbig, “Bob”, 88 of Hoboken. He passed away Sept. 25. Born to the late John and Theresa, he was a lifelong resident of Hoboken. “Bob” was a retired professional Hoboken firefighter, serving for 26 years. He is one of 29 firefighters in his family that have served in Bergen and Hudson County since 1950. A former member of the Hoboken Elks, he also loved basketball, dancing, conversations at Schnackenberg’s, vacations at Point Pleasant and the North Bergen pool. He was predeceased by his siblings James Ronald, Raymond, Rita Metcalfe, Margaret Greene, and his longtime partner Marie Del Colle. He is survived by his brother, Roy Huelbig, sister, Gloria Kinsey and sister in law, Rosalie Huelbig in addition to many relatives and great-great nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Earl F.
