Born in Dorado, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Adeline (Ginez) and Bartolo Ortega, and stepson of the late George Sandor, he lived in Brooklyn before settling in Bayonne. Surviving are his wife Ilsa Guevara Ortega, his children, Eric and Ursula, his brother, Louis & grandchildren, Ethan Ortega, Justin, Davan, Damion, Austin and Alex Papayiannis.
