SECAUCUS – Thomas Considine is resigning voluntarily as CEO of Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center and not being pushed out, according to njbiz.com.
Earlier reports indicated that Considine, who took over as head of the hospital on May 1, had run into conflicts with Richard Lipsky, Meadowlands’ co-owner and board chairman. Considine was initially told he would be running the hospital without interference. Instead he found his decisions repeatedly challenged by Lipsky.
According to the njbiz article, the situation resulted in Considine leaving voluntarily to take on a role with TruPlan, a healthcare plan sponsored by Meadowlands that was spun off as a separate, independent entity.
TruPlan is designed to provide different levels of health services, some with no deductibles or copays for members who use the Meadowlands hospital and doctor network. Considine’s role with the company has not been announced.
Nor have any settlement terms regarding his separation from his role as hospital CEO. When Considine took over three months ago he signed a three-year contract.
