UNION CITY – The City of Union City will participate in the National Night Out crime prevention event on Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 6 to 10 p.m. along Hudson Avenue from 45th to 48th Streets. This year’s festivities will include many rides and activities for children, an art exhibit, a history exhibit, classic cars, free hot dogs and water, and live music by several musical groups.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and have a heightened sense of awareness.
Mayor Brian Stack and the Board of Commissioners invite all residents to come out and enjoy the festivities. Admission to the event is free and everyone is invited.
Papo Ortega’s Cubanoson New York’s Cuban Orchestra will be among the performers, playing at 8 p.m. on the main state at 48th St. They will be performing tunes from their most recent CD “Rumba Nueva” as well as old favorites.
