Dog do, the budget, zoning, and the Loews

Dear Editor:
Summer is here and we are all enjoying the warm weather. I have to strongly agree with the anonymous reader that advocated the golden rule. The one thing that bothers me is when I see dog poop around, I always tell myself that the person that owns that dog is not fit to be a dog owner. My husband does not like dogs barking for a long time. I hope each one of us obeys the golden rule every time.
I know of the “Friends of Loews” struggle to keep this iconic theater serve the community and I am very disappointed with Jersey City Mayor Fulop. I did sign the petition and informed my friends and family about it. I hope and pray for their success.
The 14th Street Viaduct Bridge is finally open, too bad the proposed mix-used complex was rejected by the Zoning Board. I am glad that Carol Marsh is in the Zoning Board now and I hope she runs for mayor again.
The troubles at the Hoboken Housing Authority is not doing anyone any good and I hope it can be resolved soon.
Too bad the tax burden for Hoboken after the $512m county budget was passed is not what I hoped for; maybe it is time to look at the formula being used to arrive at the taxes each city ends up paying. I think it needs to be revised. These are just some of the issues that I am thinking of while I try to enjoy the summer season. Have a wonderful summer, everyone!

Respectfully yours,
Maria Theresa L. Rivera-Bartletta
