Remainder of IMTT sold to parent company
The remaining 50 percent of International-Matex Tank Terminals (IMTT) not owned by Macquarie Infrastructure Co. (MIC), a U.S. owner of storage facilities for oil products and chemicals, is being bought by MIC for $1.03 billion in cash and stock, according to an online report.
Bloomberg News reported the agreement on Tuesday, July 8, on its website. The deal is not expected to close before late July.
IMTT has a major presence in Bayonne, with a plant on Hook Road that employs hundreds. IMTT is also the largest landowner in the city.
Macquarie will purchase the other half of the company from the founding Coleman family. The deal follows years of discord between Macquarie and other investors, the report said, including Coleman family members, who will now relinquish major roles with the company.
IMTT will become the largest single division within Macquarie, Bloomberg reported.
IMTT has a dozen bulk liquid storage facilities in North America, with terminals on the east, west, and gulf coasts.
Macquarie Infrastructure is part of Australia’s Macquarie Group Ltd.
Last days to view Art Collaboration Show
Those seeking to view the works of a dozen artists at the Art Collaboration Show on Broadway have three days left to do so.
The exhibition at Bee’s Art Studio, 914 Broadway, will run until Friday, July 11.
Works on display include oil and acrylic painting; ink work, photos on canvas; pen and red marker; mixed media; digital painting; sculpture, and photography.
The studio will be open from noon to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Chamber of Commerce announces Liberty State Park summer event
The Bayonne Chamber of Commerce has announced that its summer networking event will be held on Aug. 7 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at the Liberty House Restaurant, Liberty State Park, Jersey City.
“Join us for a great time to catch up with old friends and meet new ones,” said Chamber President Vincent Virga. “Be sure to bring plenty of your business cards.”
The evening will feature an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and a DJ.

Fire department receives $295K grant from federal government
The Bayonne Fire Department received a grant award of nearly $300,000 that will fund critical safety gear for city firefighters, it was announced on July 3.
The $295,000 grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency was announced by U.S. Representative Albio Sires.
The grant will give the fire department the funds necessary to purchase 80 sets of critical safety gear firefighters need to perform high-angle rescues and traverse the complex environments they work in. The grant will also supply the critical turnout gear firefighters use to respond to calls, including fire suppression, hazardous materials, extrications, technical rescue, marine, and collapse rescues.
“We are very excited about this award because the new protective gear will serve to provide the high level of protection and safety that our firefighters deserve and need,” said Bayonne Fire Chief Gregory Rogers
“As I said at my inaugural ceremony, Congressman Sires is no stranger when it comes to helping Bayonne,” said Mayor Jimmy Davis. “Securing this grant to provide critical equipment to our fire department is just the latest example of how hard Congressman Sires fights for our community.”

Companion Animal Trust has announced that during July and August it is waiving its adoption fees for all adult cats aged one year or older. All cats are spayed, neutered, and vaccinated. The standard application process applies.

Birds of Prey program offered at Meadowlands
Close Encounters with Birds of Prey, a free program for seniors, will be offered on Thursday, July 17, at 1 p.m., Meadowlands Environment Center, 2 DeKorte Park Plaza, Lyndhurst.
Join Bill Streeter, director of the Delaware Valley Raptor Center, for an informative presentation. “You’ll see six live raptors, including falcons, and spend a magical hour gaining a greater knowledge and appreciation of these awesome creatures of the northeast,” said spokesman Brian Aberback. “Streeter will entertain and educate you with the knowledge he has accumulated through more than 30 years of studying and rehabilitating raptors.”
