Secaucus fireworks and concert to be rescheduled

SECAUCUS – The celebratory fireworks and free concert by party band Alotta Colada originally scheduled for July 2 have been postponed to a later date to be determined.
Yesterday’s day of celebration began on schedule at 4 p.m. with residents gathering to enjoy free food provided by the town at the Secaucus Swim Club.
When rain began to fall in the late afternoon, people huddled for shelter, hoping it would blow over. Instead the storm worsened. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning until 9:15, and the show was postponed.
The original rain date for the event was today, July 3; however, due to predictions of similar weather for the region tonight, it has been postponed further.
According to Mayor Gonnelli, the event will likely take place on a Wednesday night in late July or August. The goal is to have the band Alotta Colada play at the pool and provide a fireworks show as planned.
The date will be announced once arrangements are finalized. –Art Schwartz
