U.S. Sen. Menendez to swear in Mayor-elect James Davis in Bayonne

BAYONNE – Mayor-elect Jimmy Davis announced on June 24 that U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez will be swearing him into office and speaking at the city’s inaugural ceremony on Tuesday, July 1 at noon in the Bayonne High School auditorium.
“Sen. Menendez has a rich history of standing tall and going to bat for the city of Bayonne,” said Davis. “Having him stand by me during this important moment is both an honor and a privilege.”
“The people of Bayonne have chosen a new course for their future in electing Jim Davis as mayor, as well as the incoming members of the Bayonne City Council,” Menendez said. “As a son of Hudson County, I am proud and honored to have been asked to administer the oath of office to Mayor-Elect Davis and participate in a day that will usher in a new era in the city of Bayonne.”
Menendez has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 1993. He has risen to leadership roles in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, most notably serving as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and chairman of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee.
