Congratulations Elysian alumni high school honorees!

Dear Editor:
Last month 42 students from 20 Hudson County high schools were honored at the Twenty Seventh Annual Hudson County Academic Achievement Recognition Program held at Puccini’s Restaurant in Jersey City. The program, initiated in 1988, honors two graduates from each high school in the county who have achieved the highest cumulative academic average.
We are particularly proud of our Elysian alumni who were honored at the dinner; Leslie Markevitch, Valedictorian of Hoboken High, Alexandra Yoon-Hendricks, Salutatorian of Hoboken High, and Walter Gottlieb, Co-Valedictorian of County Prep High. Leslie will be going to Bucknell University, Alexandra to Berkley, and Walter to the Pennoni Honors College at Drexel University.
From the educational foundation they received at Elysian to the excellent programs available today at our local area high schools, it is gratifying to see Leslie, Alexandra and Walter, as well as so many of our local area students, heading off to such great schools, well prepared for the future.
Congratulations to all the 2014 graduates.

Sincerely,
Harry Laub, Ph.D.
Director of Elysian Charter School, Hoboken
