Feeley, McCormick good as “gold” for Bruins

After downing the Red Wings 8-4 in their JCC of Bayonne Jr. Division floor hockey playoff bout, the high flying Bruins set their sights on “Gold” as they tangled with the (5-3) top seeded Blackhawks. The Bruins landed the first blow as Caitlin Feeley drilled a 20-foot pass to Megan Feeley who quickly made it 1-0, Bruins. Unfazed, the Blackhawks mounted an offense blitz as Aaliyana Cifuentes (2 goals), Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes (1 goal, 1 assist) gave the Blackhawks a 3-1 advantage. Also picking up assists on the 3 goal spree were Matt Miceli and Roman Popowski. With their offense cruising and their defensive ranks in good hands with Harsh Easwar and Declan Good at the helm, the Blackhawks seemed to be sailing towards a victory. With less than 10 minutes remaining, the tide turned as the Bruins rolled the dice by pulling their goalie and going on the attack. The move proved to be brilliant as Megan Feeley and Declan McCormick teamed up for a goal a piece to send the game into overtime. Anchored at 3-all, the Bruins stayed aggressive on offense while defensively Arya Deshmukh stepped in at net. Once again, the Bruins’ adjustments paid off as Kasper Hooks battled a centering pass to Declan McCormick who wedged in the game winning shot. With their thrilling 4-3 O.T. victory, the Bruins capped off their season by capturing “Gold” while the lionhearted Blackhawks took home the “Silver.”
