The four-member contingent, representing the Bayonne Recreation Dolphins Special Olympics swim team, turned in superb performances at the recently – held 2014 SONJ chapter summer games. The event was contested at the College of New Jersey, and the results follow:
25m free: 3rd (bronze) – Elaina Walsh
50m free: 3rd (bronze) – Ian Hudacko, 1st (gold) – Elaina Walsh
25m back: 2nd (silver) – Jovanni Torres
50m back: 2nd (silver) – Kaitlyn Frey
100m back: 2nd (silver) – Kaitlyn Frey
25m fly: 3rd (bronze) – Ian Hudacko
50m fly: 1st (gold) – Jovanni Torres
The dolphins’ meet was capped – off by their medal – winning relay squads:
4x25m freestyle: 2nd (silver) – Kaitlyn Frey, Elaina Walsh, Jovanni Torres & Ian Hudacko
4x50m freestyle: 3rd (bronze) – Kaitlyn Frey, Elaina Walsh, Jovanni Torres and Ian Hudacko
The dolphins were accompanied to the meet by Christine Baccarella, Sheila Hudacko and Tony Torres, who were very proud of their team’s accomplishments at the meet.
