BAYONNE – Leaders from CarePoint Health and the CarePoint Health Foundation visited Bayonne High School on Monday, June 9 to make a $50,000 donation to the school’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) initiative.
The money will be used to fund the program’s new CarePoint Health Biological Discovery Center, or “BioDome,” which will serve as an extension of the school’s biology laboratories and will provide opportunities for hands-on scientific research for students.
Dr. Mark Spektor, president and CEO of CarePoint Health Bayonne Medical Center, and Paula Nevoso, vice president of the CarePoint Health Foundation, made the presentation for the company.
Mayor Mark Smith represented the city of Bayonne, and Superintendent of Schools Patricia McGeehan and BHS Principal Richard Baccarella represented the school district, among others. The STEM initiative is part of the continued expansion of the Academy for Fine Arts and Academics at the high school.
