BAYONNE – Under sunny skies and pleasant, 70-degree temperatures, about 30 groups marched the nearly mile-and-a-half course up Broadway from 5th to 32nd streets to celebrate Memorial Day and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the country.
Following a short observance, which featured comments from Mayor Mark Smith and local clergy, the parade started.
The Bayonne Bridgemen, local veterans groups, police and fire department contingents, and many others marched along the parade route lined with well wishers.
The parade was held to honor members of the military who served or are serving in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Merchant Marines, and Navy. –Joseph Passantino
