To the Editor:
I am proud and honored to have Mr. Kenneth Kopacz as BEOF Chairman. Mr. Kopacz not only takes time out of his busy schedule to attend BEOF monthly meetings and mandated trainings, but also donates countless hours for community events. Mr. Kopacz and all other exceptional volunteer Board of Trustees (Robert Velasquez, Beth Polera, Catherine Laszkow, Keith Makowski, Chester Banks, Anthony Timpanaro, and Laura Jaime), are to be commended for their many hours given unselfishly toward the implementation of programs that impact senior citizens, children, and poverty. Their loyal and untiring efforts make it possible for our agency to be recognized as one of the outstanding programs in the state of New Jersey.
Established in 1965, BEOF Community Action Partnership is the designated Community Action Agency for the City of Bayonne. The agency’s mission is to assist low income citizens. BEOF provides programs for Bayonne’s low-income population, senior citizens, and disabled people. The agency’s programs range from Head Start through the “Golden Years.” Our programs include Meals on Wheels, congregate feeding sites, weatherization programs, Elderly and Handicapped Transportation Program, Hispanic Affairs Program (Centro De Recursos Hispanos), community outreach service, Head Start, homeless prevention, residential maintenance, LIHEAP, and Emergency Food Pantry.
Bayonne is a unique community of caring individuals, and the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation’s Board of Trustees is to be commended for its hard work and dedication to the community. I am proud to be part of BEOF and its team.
