To the Editor: I support Mayor Smith’s administration for contracting with a power company. The people did have a choice not to change and opt out of the service. I’m not in favor of government making decisions about basic living without giving me a choice, but a choice was offered. Just because the choice is not in a format you like doesn’t make it any less of a choice.
I also believe that the Smith administration has been transparent. If it were any more transparent they’d have to put glass walls in city hall. Nothing happens that the public is not made aware of, and far more so than in any previous administration.
As far as Mayor Smith’s dedication to his job and this city, I think that a great example is what he did during Hurricane Sandy. He worked 24 hours a day, sleeping in his office, and even answering the phone himself, long after the city workers had gone home.
