Heading into week two of the JCC of Bayonne’s Jr. Division Floor Hockey program, the (0-1) Blackhawks and the (0-0-1) Red Wings were both in search of their first victory. The Blackhawks struck first as Declan Good assisted Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes on his first goal of the season. Moments later, the Red Wings tied the bout at one all as Jake Peregrin lifted a scoring dart off an assist by Michael Egan. While the game stayed even for almost ten minutes, the rest of the contest belonged to the Red Wings high-powered offense as Egan and Peregrin each nailed a pair of goals with Jordan Neustein (2), Victor Mendolaro (1), and Peregrin (1) picking up assists. Down 5-1, the Blackhawks’ Aaliyana Cifuentes cut the Red Wings advantage to 5-2 with a swift wrist shot. The Hawks continued to pressure the Red Wings’ defense with Roman Popowski, Harsh Easwar, and Alejandro and Aaliyana Cifuentes forcing fast breaks but Red Wings’ defensemen Michael “Stonewall” McCollum foiled one surge after another. With their defensive ranks bolstered, the Red Wings poured in four more goals as Peregrin and Egan once again each nailed a pair of goals as McCollum (1), Neustein (2), and Egan (1) notched assists. With a comfortable 9-2 lead, the Red Wings did fall prey to the Blackhawks’ thunderous fast break as Aaliyana Cifuentes assisted big brother Alejandro Cifuentes on his second goal making it 9-3, Red Wings. After picking up four assists in the early going, the Red Wings’ Jordan Neustein closed out the action with his first goal of the season as the Red Wings cruised to a 10-3 victory.
