BAYONNE – Danielle Lenardo of Bayonne, a body builder and former cancer patient, will be honored with the “Heart of a Champion” award at the New Jersey Golden Gloves Boxing competition on Friday, April 11, at 65 West Century Rd., Paramus.
Lenardo was diagnosed with cancer in 2001, overcame it, and began a career in bodybuilding last year, achieving national attention. She will be the first woman to receive the Heart of a Champion honor, she said.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the October Woman Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and fights begin at 8 p.m.
