Missing 27-year-old made it to Hoboken waterfront; authorities now widening search to include Hudson River

HOBOKEN ¬– The search for 27-year-old Andrew Jarzyk, who disappeared from his Monroe Street apartment early Sunday morning after a night out with friends, was expanded to include the Hudson Riverfront on Tuesday after authorities spotted Jarzyk jogging near the river on a surveillance camera at Fourth and River Streets, according to news reports.
Scuba teams from the Jersey City and New York Police Departments are searching the river, reports said, though a Hoboken police sergeant said there is no evidence suggesting that Jarzyk fell or was thrown into the water. Jarzyk has not been heard from since around 2 a.m. Sunday morning, when a neighbor saw him near his apartment (see links to our earlier stories below).
Last month, a different young man was thrown into the Hudson River by unknown assailants during a weekend in Hoboken in which many young residents were throwing house parties for the coming St. Patrick’s Day holiday. Those assailants have not been caught. – Dean DeChiaro
