A teacher

To the Editor:

The teachers have no contract (2010-2014) raises some questions. . .
Question #1: Has anyone ever heard the statement… “If you can read this, then thank your teacher?”
Question #2: Isn’t it true that the vast majority of careers require the ability to read/write/understand (i.e. education)?
Question #3: Why do politicos criticize teachers for not accepting a “salary freeze” like the police/fire without mentioning the latter’s increment in thousands of dollars?
Question #4: Why did the fact finder offer teachers a “longevity” increase in hundreds of dollars, which does not even cover the cost of coming to work over 180 days?
Question #5: Do the professionals on the B.O.E./Associated Lawyers/School Administrators have the same salary from four years ago?
Finally, if any person in the community cares to visit a classroom, none of the above would be present except for an individual securing a child’s and society’s future… A T-E-A-C-H-E-R! Or did I miss something?
