Dear Editor:
I am very disappointed that Mayor Fulop is threatening to close the PS. 37/Cordero PreK Annex. It is by all accounts an excellent public school serving an area of the city that is bursting at the seams with PreK-aged children. If the school is closed, those 3 and 4 year old children will have to be bussed away from their neighborhood public school. We live in the JSQ area and while I am glad that my child is able to attend our local neighborhood public school for PreK3 and PreK4 my child is bussed to school. If PS. 37/Cordero PreK Annex closes that means more Jersey City parents will have to place their 3 & 4 year old children on buses too.
All students in Jersey City deserve the same opportunity. And there is simply no excuse for closing a flourishing neighborhood public school without due cause.
Sincerely,
Victoria Baxter
