Violet Malcolm led a 22-member contingent, representing the Bayonne Recreation Keglers Special Olympics Bowling Team, by copping a gold medal at the recently – held 2014 SONJ North Jersey Sectional Bowling Meet. The event was contested at the T-Bowl II Lanes (in Wayne, N.J.) and the results follow:
5th Place: Siearra Battle, Richmond McCurnin and Elaina Walsh
4th Place: Roger Belanger, Samantha Ciemieci, Cheryl Olander, Jude Orlando and Marybeth Yurecko.
3rd Place (Bronze Medal): Marcello Ciccone, Charles Cirillo, Jody Czucza, Wendy Di Domenico, Francheska Huentelaf, Barbara Mari, Marc Tonzola and Dina Tryon.
2nd Place (Silver Medal): Nicole Bawiec, Ronald Benitez, Kaitlyn Frey, Ian Hudacko and James Rokicki.
1st Place (God Medal): Violet Malcolm
The Keglers were accompanied to the meet by their coaches John Valdora, Theresa Diaz, Denise Bawiec and Tom Moody, who were ably assisted by Veronica Burns, Willie Pacas, Ed Broderick, Sheila Hudacko, Rose Marie Yurecko and Fran Tomasso.
The Keglers who placed first, second or third have qualified to advance to the SONJ State Spring Sports Festival in late March at the Brunswick Zone (in North Brunswick, N.J.).
