Dear Editor:
According to a recent internet story which appeared courtesy of Hudson County TV. I find it extremely upsetting that due to an order of the state our neighborhood police precinct at 27th St. and Bergenline as Union City has been permanently closed.
Didn’t our great city last year receive 2.8 million dollars from the Port Authority?
Why couldn’t any of this money be used to repair the roof of the public works garage?
Didn’t our public safety director realize that one of the public works employees started to give out names for the various pigeons who have taken up permanent residence at this location?
The new lights and sidewalks on New York Ave. are lovely however for those of us who live near Central Ave. where the late night foot traffic never seems to end, we continue to live in the shadows and without our neighborhood police precinct we are rightfully concerned for our personal safety.
Unfortunately this is what happens when an important building in our community is allowed to seriously deteriorate.
