North Bergen Public Library main branch temporarily closed after snow damage

NORTH BERGEN – The North Bergen Free Public Library’s Main Branch has been forced to temporarily close due to damage caused by heavy snow on the building’s roof. The branch has been closed since Tuesday with repairs expected to be completed over the weekend. The building is expected to re-open on Monday, Feb. 24.
Library staff is working to reschedule the many free classes, activities and events held at the main branch with some being rerouted to the library’s Kennedy branch, which will be open with extended hours while the main branch is closed. For information on library events call the Kennedy branch at (201) 869-4715 or visit the library’s website at www.nbpl.org.
The main branch is housed in a building owned by the township at 8411 Bergenline Ave. The Kennedy branch, located at 2123 Kennedy Blvd., was opened last year in order to expand services into the southern end of the township.
A concert by acoustic soloist Callaghan that was scheduled for Saturday at the main branch has been postponed with a new date to be determined. —Art Schwartz
