Dear Editor:
Recently we were sent a letter from our local officials in Union City imploring us to us to shop locally and patronize the merchants on both Bergenline and Summit Ave.
Not owning a car I sincerely make every effort to do so however the lack of quality merchandise leaves our choices as consumers extremely limited.
Do we really need anymore 99 cent stores and establishments to make long distance calls on Bergenline Ave.?
I honestly lost count on how many places people have to sell their old gold jewelry on Summit Ave.
I’ve been around long enough to remember that former Union City Revenue and Finance Commissioners Jim Lagomarsino and Ralph Fraguglia both made themselves available to our local merchants.
The individual in our community who currently holds this position is certainly a fashion diva.
However, when I once asked her if she even purchased any of her clothing on Bergenline Ave. she literally gave me the stink eye.
Lets all make 2014 the year that all of our hard working merchants in Union City finally receive the respect that they are entitled to.
