MCCARTHY, ROBERT TIMOTHY

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Feb. 8 at St. Joseph’s Church for Robert Timothy McCarthy, 73, of Frederick, Md. He passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 30. He is survived by his wife, Nuala Cleary McCarthy of Frederick, Md.; two daughters, Shivawn and Deirdre, and grandson Chappell Thomas, all of Colorado Springs, Colo., a sister Patricia Theil and husband Charles of Bridgewater, in addition to nieces, nephews, and his dog Teddy.
Born in Jersey City, he was the son of the late Timothy and Eleanor K. McCarthy. Mr. McCarthy proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-64. He retired as a Fire Captain from the Jersey City Fire Department in 1985 and ended his career in 2006 as a project manager with the United States Fire Administration in Emmitsburg, Md. He had a great love of literature and was a lifelong patron of the arts. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
