HOBOKEN — The city of Hoboken has started receiving subpoenas from the U.S. Attorney’s Office related to the matter of Mayor Dawn Zimmer and the administration of Gov. Chris Christie, according to a statement from the mayor’s spokesman.
Zimmer said recently that top state officials allegedly pressured her to help speed up development on land in the city’s north end owned by the Rockefeller Group. Zimmer alleged that officials suggested that the city’s receiving Hurricane Sandy aid was tied to her help with the development.
The federal government is now investigating the alleged quid pro quo.
A close Christie ally, David Samson, was serving as a lobbyist for Rockefeller.
This news broke the same day that Christie faced new claims in another potential scandal involving the George Washington Bridge.
