JERSEY CITY — Activists will spread out through Hudson County on Jan. 29 in order to get a current count of people living on the streets.
The Hudson County Alliance to End Homelessness will hold the annual Point-in-time Count and Survey of the Homeless to gather important information that will help make more effective ever shrinking services.
Home base for Jersey City activities will be at the GSECDC (Garden State Episcopal Community Development Corporation) Hudson CASE Homeless Drop-In Center at 118 Summit Avenue.
The center is also seeking volunteers to help serve homeless individuals and their families.
Volunteers could greet and welcome homeless visitors, serve food, hand out supplies and administer the brief homeless count survey.
To sign up as volunteer email volunteer.e3xpo@gmail.com or call 201-668-0546.
The group is also seeking donations of hand and foot warmers, thermal wear, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, $5 food gift cards, non-perishable meals or snacks, rain gear (such as ponchos or umbrellas), blankets or sleeping bags, underwear (new and packaged), personal hygiene product, travel sized toiletries, reading glasses, flashlights and batteries.
