Thank you for the great send off

Dear Editor:
I just want to take the time to acknowledge the great send-off I received from my co-workers at the Christa McAuliffe School/ PS No. 28. After 23 years of service as a Jersey City public school security guard, I retired effective November 1, 2013. On October 29, 2013 there was a retirement party held in my honor at the Lincoln Inn with more than 80 guests in attendance. It was a bitter sweet end to my career with the Jersey City Board of Education.
I would like to thank Christine Walhgren and Melissa Centanni, both teachers at PS No. 28 for assisting me with my retirement. Mrs. Wahlgren was instrumental in filing all the necessary paper work with Trenton. Miss Centanni planned and organized a great party. I am forever grateful to those faculty and members both past and present who were able to attend.
I would like to recognize several special guests in attendance: Dr. Norma Fernandez, Principal Dr. Janet Elder, retired Principal Mary Ann Hammer, retired assistant Principal Patricia Timmons, Assistant Principal Patrick Holness, Director of Facilities: Kevin O’Reilly and Local 2262 AFSCME Executive Board Members: Bill Murawshi and Patty McCarthy. It was an honor to be in such great company.
Once again I want to thank all who came out to wish me well and those who were unable to attend. Two years ago when I turned 80, the amazing faculty and staff at PS No. 28 honored me with a cake and celebration. I could not have asked for better co-workers. I am forever grateful for the time I spent at PS No. 28. I will miss the staff and kids.

Sincerely,
Paul Marlu Maiellaro, retired
