Dear Editor:
I want to take this opportunity to thank our snow team for the great work they did clearing our streets and keeping our city safe during our first major winter storm last week.
In particular, I want to acknowledge Directors John Morgan and Leo Pellegrini, Supervisors Joe Bucino and James Davis, all of our Environmental Services plow drivers and Parking Utility employees, Chief Falco and the Hoboken Police Department, Chief Blohm and the Fire Department, Ken Ferrante and the Office of Emergency Management, and Lou Casciano and our CERT volunteers. I also want to thank Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise and his team for keeping our County roads clear. Thanks to their collaborative efforts, we didn’t have any accidents or injuries during the entire storm.
Thank you to our residents who moved their cars from emergency snow routes. Fortunately we had to tow fewer cars than in past years, and our Fire Department relied on those clear routes to respond to several emergency calls during the night, including one at the hospital.
Finally, thank you to Superintendent Mark Toback, Facilities Director Tim Calligy, and the Board of Education for allowing us to use the Wallace School gymnasium for a warming center during those frigid cold days.
Sincerely,
Mayor Dawn Zimmer
