The Bayonne Breakers Youth Travel Basketball Program 2013-2014 season is underway. This travel basketball program is for the young female athletes of Bayonne and is open to Bayonne residents in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. This program provides a forum for players to advance their game beyond the traditional leagues in preparation for AAU and high school programs by competing against highly competitive out of town teams. Participants in the program learn how to schedule schoolwork, home commitments, and practices and learn the value of teamwork. Players from the travel program have gone on to play on various AAU teams and at Bayonne High School, St. Dominic’s Academy, and Marist High School.
Our girls play in the Garden State League and travel to cities in Northern and Central New Jersey. The Garden State League has been in existence for well over 20 years and this season will have many teams competing for the League Championship. This year Bayonne Breakers entered two teams (Junior Varsity and Varsity team). The league begins the first week of January 2014 and concludes with playoffs in March 2014.
The practice team will participate in all practices held by the coach on Saturdays and/or Sundays between 3 and 6 p.m.
This is a great opportunity for young female athletes to learn the game of basketball at a young age and learn the skills developed from current Bayonne Breakers players.
Any players in 4th – 8th grade that are interested in joining the Bayonne Breakers Practice Team from January through March contact Leo Nunez. The fee will be $60 which includes a practice uniform.
Practice will be held at Bayonne High School Ice Rink Gym.
