Arno, Ballance secure Colts title quest

Its time to crown the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football 2013 Jr. Division Champions as the powerhouse (9-3) Bears take on the tenacious (8-5) Colts. After trading three and outs, the Colts finally put up a score as QB Chris Ballance masterfully turned play action into an easy 20 yard TD toss to a wide open Kyle Arano. Down 6-0, the Bears’ Matt Miceli took matters into his own hands and rumbled 35 yards for the game tying TD. Fueled by Ballances’ ball faking wizardry, the Colts scored again off play action and once again Arano raced in untouched for his second TD reception. With the Colts rolling, the Bears dug in as Ryan “Iron” Griffin, Anthony Frazier, Jordan Neustein and Michael Egan corralled the Colts’ offense for the rest of the first half. At the start of the second half, the Bears had their chances as QB Matt Miceli unleashed pinpoint passes to his sure handed play maker Nicholas Resua but the Colts’ stubborn defense kept their endzone off limits. While the Bears focused on keeping the league’s leading scorer, McGill, out of the endzone, the Colts wisely took advantage as Kasper Hooks zipped in for a TD run and a two point catch to stretch the Colts lead to 20-6. The big body blow came just before the two minute warning as the Colts’ Kyle Arano hauled in his third TD of the fray while Ahmad McGill’s two point end run put the Colts up 28-6. The Bears did go down swinging as their defense notched a league leading 24th point via a safety as Miceli and company forced a Colts’ fumble in the endzone making it 28-8. With victory well in hand, the Colts ran out the clock as their fans filled the gym with applause. Congratulations to all our players on yet another great season and thank you to all our coaches, family members and fans for keeping it fun.
