A funeral mass was offered Dec. 14 at St. Nicholas Church for Nora Maloney, 87, of Bayonne, formerly of Jersey City. She passed away at her residence on Dec. 11. Born in Manhattan, Nora moved to Jersey City after marrying her husband John. She was a homemaker as well as a teacher’s aide at Sacred Heart School in Jersey City for over twenty-five years. Her devotion and commitment to the student’s at Sacred Heart led to many scholarships that she and her husband provided to the students that could not afford to pay the tuition.
Nora was a longtime communicant of St. Nicholas Church in Jersey City where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Societies before moving to Bayonne. Nora is survived by her daughters, Eileen Maloney and Norine Salcedo and her husband Tom; sons, John Maloney and Terence Malone; brother, Terence Flynn and grandsons, Brian and Sean Salcedo. She is predeceased by her husband, John Maloney; brothers, Timothy, Michael “Buddy,” John, Danny and Thomas “Sonny” Flynn; sisters, Eileen Morgan, Geraldine O’Neill and Rita Rogan. The family would also like to acknowledge Charmaine Jones who so lovingly cared for Nora. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
