I am in for First Ward Councilman

To the Editor:

Let me just start off by saying, hello fellow First Ward citizens. My name is John Emmett Dolan, Jr., but most of you may know me as Harpo. I’ve decided to throw my old softball hat into the ring for First Ward Councilman. Believe me, I am not a politician, I’m just your average
John. I’ve lived in Bayonne for 50 years and in the First Ward for the past 14 years. I’ve seen the good (Collins/Ahern/Foye/DeSena, and Hogan), and I have also seen the bad. I have been a teamster for more than 25 years. I’ve also been a camp counselor for Washington School and the YMCA summer camps. I have coached in the PAL for several teams for seven years. I think I know what makes our kids and parents happy, (a safe, clean and fun environment). Many issues will be approaching the First Ward in the future: Bayonne Bridge construction/Kill Van Kull blasting/ new recreation area for our kids (indoor/outdoor) and also our teachers/ taxes. Oh did I mention teachers/taxes? Most of you who know me know I am not a suit-and-tie kind of guy. I consider myself very laid back unless pushed too far. I really believe I can handle this job (full time) as your First Ward Councilman. So why not give your average John a chance? Well, win, lose, or draw I hope to see you all at the polls in May. Of course I’m sure I’ll see you in and around the neighborhood here or there in the next few months.

JOHN E. (HARPO) DOLAN, JR.
