Dear Editor:
Hoboken Girl Scout Troop 12402 would like to thank the American Legion post 107 and The Knights of Columbus for hosting us at a celebration of Veterans Day last Friday.
John Carey, the new Commander of Post 107, brought in an active duty Colonel (Col. Joel Branosky, Member of the Knights of Columbus), and three Veterans which spanned WWII through the Korean and Vietnam wars; Vincent Wassman (WWII and Korean War), Ernest Prudente (Korean War), and Tom Brereton (Vietnam War).
The girls got to hear how these men went to war and the jobs they did in the military. Vincent Wassman brought in his collection of impressive military medals, and Col. Branosky told the girls the story of how he watched his son Ben being born over an IPAD while he was at war. The girls were then able to ask questions and enjoy some hot dogs with the Vets. It was a great opportunity for the girls to further understand the sacrifices that all Veterans have made for our country.
In honor of Veterans Day we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Veterans for their service.
Kind regards,
Lisa Cavanaugh
Leader
