Cifuentes, McCormack soar for Jets

At (1-8), the Jets had a tall order as they took on the (7-2) Bears in a JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football week 8 clash. The Bears got on the scoreboard first with a 30 yard TD rumble by Matt Miceli for a 6-0 lead. The next 20 minutes of the first half belonged to the Jets as two safeties and two long TD gallops by Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes put the Jets up 16-6. Early, in the second half, the Bears cut the Jets’ lead to 16-14 as Matt Miceli raced in for his second TD while Ryan Griffin reeled in the two point conversion. Looking to build on their two point lead, the Jets turned two third and “forevers” into a pair of wire to wire TD sprints by “See Ya” Cifuentes as their lead grew to 28-14. Needing a spark, the Bears once again handed the ball to Matt Miceli who torched the court for his third TD run of the game. Down by eight, the Bears knotted the bout at 28 all as Nicholas Resua raced zone to zone for a TD followed by Resua’s game tying two point grab. After a five minute defensive stalemate led by Michael Egan, Anthony Fraser, and Jordan Neustein and the Jets’ Alanis Concepcion, the Jets took off again as Alejandro Cifuentes rushed for his fifth TD of the day. Trailing 34-28 the Bears went to the air but the Jets’ Declan McCormick ended the threat with a key interception. Up by 6, the Jets iced the victory when Aaliyana Cifuentes zipped around right end for the game clinching TD as the Jets downed the Bears 40-28.
