State Assembly committee expresses support for extending New York No. 7 subway to Hoboken, Secaucus

HOBOKEN — Will Hoboken become another stop on the New York subway? If New Yorkers are lucky, it will!
Yesterday, the state Assembly Transportation, Public Works and Independent Authorities Committee approved a resolution expressing support for extending the No. 7 line to New Jersey, including Hoboken and Secaucus.
In 2010, Gov. Chris Christie canceled the the Access to the Region’s Core Tunnel project, which would have added two train tunnels from New Jersey to New York. Extending the subway line might let New Jersey commuters get directly in and out of midtown Manhattan in a different way. Plus, maybe New Yorkers can enjoy more of the Garden State.
The resolution doesn’t set anything in stone, and legislators discussed alternatives on Monday, according to NJBiz.
