Haunted City Hall: Jersey City to host Halloween event

JERSEY CITY – 280 Grove St. is a scary place, where witches, warlocks, and zombies rule the day, and this isn’t just rhetoric.
On Thursday evening, Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Jersey City’s City Hall will be transformed into a free haunted house where kids can see what lurks in the shadows of government.
This first Annual Halloween Bash, announced on Monday, will feature Fright Night movie screenings, a petting zoo, trick-or-treating, face painted, a moon bounce, a costume contest, games, and a Michael Jackson “Thriller” zombie dance-off.
“We hope everyone will come down to City Hall for what will be a fun event for the entire family,” said Mayor Steven Fulop, who did not disclose what his costume will be for the bash. (Our guess? He’ll probably just go as “the mayor,” and dress in a blue shirt, tie, and dark slacks. But maybe he’ll surprise everybody.) “I am looking forward to seeing creative costumes and there will be plenty of candy for the children. We also believe that the petting zoo – which will include camels, cows, lamas and sheep – will thrill both children and parents this Halloween.”
