McGill propels Colts

After a disappointing 30-28 defeat in game one, the (1-2) Jets set their sights on rebounding as they faced the (1-2) Colts in game two of the JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Jr. Division double header. The Colts raced out to a 16-0 advantage as FB Chris Ballance raced coast to coast on a TD pitch followed by Ahmad McGill’s TD run and two 2 point plays. The Colts’ defense got into the mix with Kyle Arano picking off a pass while Kasper Hooks and Michael Aziz shut down the Jets’ running attack. After completing passes to Aaliyanna Cifuentes, Alanis Concepcion, and key runs by the Stack brothers, Owen and Benjamin, the Jets capped off a long drive with a Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes TD run and a Declan McCormick two point grab cutting the Colts’ lead to 16-8. As their air attack floundered, the Colts’ ground game soared as Ahmad McGill rushed for his second TD making it 22-8, Colts. The Jets once again pulled close with Alejandro Cifuentes making it 22-14 on a goal to goal TD dash. Two plays later, the Colts’ amazing speedster Ahmad McGill went on a coast to coast TD voyage to give the Colts a 28-14 advantage. Down by 14, the Jets roared back as TD runs by Declan McCormick, Alejandro Cifuentes and a defensive safety knotted the bout at 28 all. The Colts finally locked up a 36-28 victory when Ahmad McGill hit a league leading 78 points with another long TD gallop and a two point end run.
