Arrest made in weekend shooting death on Bartholdi Avenue in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY – A teen has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that took place Sunday morning on Bartholdi Avenue.
At around 1:40 a.m. officers from the Jersey City Police Department responded to reports of gunshots at 62 Bartholdi Ave. A 24-year-old victim, later identified as Nigee Paige, was found at the scene with gunshot wounds to his torso.
Paige was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
After a preliminary investigation, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s office alleges that Paige was shot by the 17-year-old alleged assailant after the victim allegedly had an argument and altercation with his (Paige’s) girlfriend in the stairwell of 62 Bartholdi Ave. The 17 year-old who was arrested is allegedly the brother of Paige’s girlfriend.
Prosecutor’s detectives charged the 17 year-old with murder and firearms offenses. The juvenile has been remanded to the Hudson County Youth Detention Center, where he is being held.
