JERSEY CITY – The sale of a penthouse condo at 77 Hudson St. has set a local sale price record for Jersey City, a development firm said. The 48th floor, two-bedroom condo recently sold for $2.8 million.
According to K. Hovnanian, which developed 77 Hudson, a comparable 2,100 square foot unit would sell for $5 million to $7 million in Manhattan.
Aside from price, 77 Hudson has appealed to buyers for other reason as well, according to Scott Waldman, K. Hovnanian’s real estate broker.
“We’ve had buyers from throughout the New York metropolitan area, as well as from around the globe,” Waldman said. “People recognize what an excellent value 77 Hudson represents for a waterfront building with drop-dead Manhattan skyline views. Our foreign buyers in particular recognize that their homes are a fraction of the price of river-view buildings on the New York side.”
