WEEHAWKEN, WEST NEW YORK, AND BEYOND — The 2014 Formula One racing Grand Prix will take place on the streets of Weehawken and West New York next June, according to the race schedule released on Friday.
There have been developments over the past year that made some wonder if the race was going to happen. For now, the race is on, organizers confirmed on Friday.
Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner was pleased with the announcement, although he said that the June 1 date listed on the schedule is not a definite date.
In any case, the race is set to take place on local streets some time next June. Turner has said that his town is gearing up to hold events related to the race next year.
The three-day event is expected to draw more than 100,000 people.
